 Abstract:  Charles Sumner Howe (1858-1939) was the president of Case School of Applied Science in Cleveland, Ohio, from 1902-1929. The collection consists of correspondence, leaflets, diagrams, and other papers, concerning Howe's activities, representing the Cleveland Chamber of Commerce, and of other members of a special committee appointed by Cleveland Mayor Herman Baehr to consider plans for the construction of a bridge over the Cuyahoga River. This led to the construction of the Superior-Detroit High Level Bridge.

 Abstract:  Hermann Baehr (1866-1942) was a Cleveland, Ohio, businessman who served as Mayor from 1910-1911. The collection consists of correspondence, printed items and miscellaneous materials from various city commissions during Baehr's term as Cleveland's mayor. Many of the papers relate to bridge construction, widening of the Cuyahoga River basin and efforts to host the 1916 Olympics.

3Title:  Detroit-Superior High-Level Bridge Right-of-Way Photograph Album

 Abstract:  The Detroit-Superior High-Level Bridge was constructed by the King Bridge Company between 1912 and 1917 to link the east and west sides of downtown Cleveland, Ohio. Prior to the start of construction, the City of Cleveland, Ohio, and Cuyahoga County approved a 120 foot wide right-of-way along the proposed 5,600 foot path of the bridge from the intersection of Detroit Avenue, N.W. and 25th Street on the west side of the River, to the intersection of Superior Avenue, N.W. and 9th Avenue, N.W., on the east side of the River. Contains one photograph album containing 62 images from the Flats area of downtown Cleveland, Ohio, including businesses, residences, and streets of those areas that were located in the proposed path of the Detroit-Superior Bridge.

 Abstract:  The Historic Sites of Cleveland Project was funded through the Works Progress Administration (WPA), which gathered data during the Great Depression (1930s) on historic sites and organizations in and around Cleveland, Ohio. The collection consists of real estate transfer records (1800-1885) for Cleveland and Cuyahoga County, Ohio, and material relating to boardinghouses, bridges, buildings, canals, cemeteries, churches, civic and social institutions, dwellings, educational institutions, hospitals, hotels, military sites, manufacturing and commercial agents, public buildings, railroads, restaurants and saloons, roads, streets, theaters, and halls.
